Performance Dashboard

Monitoring Progress | Ensuring Accountability | Supporting Students

The MECCA Business Learning Institute (MBLI) uses a set of clearly defined performance indicators to monitor academic outcomes, student engagement, operational health, and long-term sustainability. This dashboard outlines the key metrics MBLI tracks, how often data is reviewed, and how the information is used to inform decision-making.

Data is reported in alignment with state accountability systems, authorizer expectations, and best practices for new public charter schools.

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

Key Indicators

  • Percentage of students proficient in:

    • English Language Arts (ELA)

    • Mathematics

Reporting Frequency:

  • Annual (upon release of MCAP and Maryland Report Card data)

How MBLI Uses This Data: Achievement data is used to evaluate curriculum effectiveness, instructional alignment, and student mastery of state standards, and to inform continuous improvement planning.

STUDENT GROWTH

Key Indicators

  • Percentage of students demonstrating academic growth

  • Student Growth Percentile (SGP)

Reporting Frequency:

  • Annual

How MBLI Uses This Data: Growth measures allow MBLI to assess academic progress over time, particularly for students entering at varying performance levels, and to ensure that instructional strategies accelerate learning.

EQUITY

Key Indicator

  • Performance comparison by student group, measured as the difference in total earned points percentage between each student group and students not in that group

Reporting Frequency:

  • Annual

How MBLI Uses This Data: Equity analyses ensure that all student groups are benefiting from MBLI’s instructional model and help identify targeted supports where disparities may exist.

How MBLI Uses This Data: Attendance data is monitored to identify trends, engage families early, and implement supports that promote consistent student participation in learning.

Retention

Key Indicator

  • Percentage of eligible students who re-enroll from the previous school year
(Number of returning students ÷ total number of students eligible to return × 100)

Context Note: Typical benchmarks range from 60–180 days, with 90 days often cited as a healthy target. As a new school, MBLI closely monitors this metric, recognizing that startup schools may initially operate below long-term benchmarks.

How MBLI Uses This Data: Cash-on-hand analysis supports fiscal oversight, proactive planning, and long-term sustainability.

Enrollment &

School Choice

Applications & Waitlist

Key Indicators

  • Applications as a percentage of projected openings
    (Applications received ÷ projected openings)

  • Actual enrollment compared to projected enrollment

Reporting Frequency

  • Applications: Monthly (November–February)

  • Enrollment: Monthly following the lottery through September 30

  • Official Count: Reported once the September 30 enrollment count is finalized

How MBLI Uses This Data: Enrollment metrics demonstrate family demand, inform staffing and resource planning, and reflect MBLI’s role as a school of choice.
